Tips For Installing PEX Expansion Fittings

　　1. Determine the location of the pipes-if you plan your project in advance, you already know the feet and locations of the PEX expansion fittings you need. Check the position and measure one last time before continuing. Cut each section of pipe and place the hanger. For horizontal PEX expansion fittings, a hanger should be placed every 32 inches. For vertical installations, fix the pipe every four to six feet.

　　2. Measure your PEX expansion fittings twice-yes, it is a cheaper type of pipe, but if you cut 20 feet of PEX expansion fittings, one or two inches short, you will encounter problems. PEX pipe can expand and contract 1 inch per 100 feet. Please keep this in mind when measuring, and add a little "slack" to the pipeline when installing PEX expansion fittings.

　　3. Cut it once-now that you have measured your tube, you can cut it to the proper length. One of the most important piping techniques for PEX expansion fittings installation is cutting the pipe. The cutting needs to be as precise as possible and free of burrs. If the cut is uneven and smooth, the PEX connector may not be properly seated, resulting in leakage.

　　4. Sliding the crimp ring-a a piping tip is recommended to place the crimp ring approximately two inches from the end of the PEX expansion fittings. This will provide you with enough space to place the accessory at the end of the PEX pipe.

　　5. Time for the PEX connector-Place the PEX connector so that the shoulder touches the tube. Once in place, slide the crimp ring onto the barbs of the PEX connector and align the barbs.

　　6. Crimping the PEX connector-Open the jaws of the PEX crimping tool and align them so that it covers the crimp ring. While keeping the pipe stable, firmly close the jaws of the PEX crimping tool. The joint should now be sealed and can be checked with a pass/fail gauge, which should be partially installed on the crimp ring. If it keeps sliding down the pipe, it needs to be reconnected.

　　7. Place the pipe-Now that you have installed the connector to the PEX expansion fittings, you can run the pipe, put it in the hanger, and connect it to the water system. Turn on the water and check for leaks.
